Our Purpose
The purpose of Speech Rank is to demonstrate an interesting use case for Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). The project uses the most advanced model of GPT, a Large Language Model developed by OpenAI.
Core Objectives
- Innovation: Demonstrate practical applications of GenAI technology
- Awareness: Build understanding of AI's growing role in society
- Accessibility: Make parliamentary debates more engaging to the public
Current Limitations
- Training method biases exist
- Early models may not fully grasp NZ cultural context
- AI can occasionally produce hallucinations
Analytical Process
The analytical process is reviewed from time to time to improve functionality. Here are some considerations:
Analytical Refinement
Changes are generally only made for technical reasons:
- Systematic issues in analysis
- Translation handling improvements
- Transcription processing
Te Reo Māori Content
The Hansard Record sometimes delays providing Te Reo speech content and authorised translations, which can impact the analysis.
Technology & Future
AI capabilities are rapidly advancing. While our current focus is on written analysis, future potential includes:
Vocal Analysis
Analyzing speech patterns, tone, and delivery
Visual Analysis
Examining body language and presentation
The Future of AI
Unprecedented Impact
Artificial Intelligence will have a greater influence on our lives than any previous technology, with rapid advancement expected in the coming years.
Artificial General Intelligence
Major labs are racing toward AGI - systems capable of human-level reasoning across all tasks. This pursuit is driving massive innovation and investment.
Preparation is Key
The best way to prepare for this transformative future is to develop awareness and start learning about these technologies now.
Feedback
We welcome any feedback. Please note that while we may refine our analytical system, changes are typically made only to address systematic issues rather than isolated concerns.
